Researchers in the University of Edinburgh’s Roslin Institute desired to learn precisely what causes these horizontal capabilities.
They analysed DNA samples from 374 pet dogs of different pedigree and mixed strains, which were being treated in the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
